Arendal, Norway | August 2026 : Arendalsuka 2026 brought together politicians, businesses, technology leaders, researchers, industry representatives and organisations from across Norway for some of the country’s most important conversations on the future. From energy security and the Norwegian Continental Shelf to AI, geopolitics, cybersecurity and digitalisation, the discussions reflected an increasingly interconnected business and industrial landscape, where technology and resilience are becoming central to how Norway prepares for what comes next.
Where Industry, Technology and Norway’s Future Meet
Kilowott was part of Arendalsuka 2026, engaging with industry stakeholders, clients, partners and organisations across a broad range of conversations shaping Norway’s economic and technological future. The programme covered some of the major issues facing Norwegian industries today. Discussions around “Global Outlook 2026: Rebooting Democracy for a New World Order” explored the changing geopolitical landscape, while other sessions examined Norway’s role in Europe’s energy security, the future of the Barents Sea and the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Sessions looking towards the future of the NCS through 2050 highlighted the scale of transformation taking place within the energy sector, while conversations around international cooperation and global security reflected the wider uncertainty businesses and industries are operating within.
Cybersecurity was another important part of the conversation. Kilowott attended a seminar as part of the Gjøvikregionen collaboration with the Norwegian Cybersecurity Cluster, centred around the question: Can Norway afford not to build its own cyber industry? The discussion highlighted cybersecurity as more than a technology challenge. Building domestic cyber capabilities is increasingly connected to protecting businesses, critical infrastructure and jobs, strengthening national resilience, creating new export opportunities and reducing dependence on external expertise. Technology and AI also featured prominently across the wider Arendalsuka agenda.
